Love and Laughter

Recently Dean and I received an invitation to a wedding in September and we had to return the RSVP by 1 July 2012.  The initial invitation was a pretty scroll one and the colour combination was burgundy and cream.  Looking closely at the invitation I noted that the colour of the writing was very similar to that of Bravo Burgundy.  Now this is a colour I don't tend to use a lot as I tend to steer towards pastel shade not the dark rich colours so it was a nice change.  This was their invitation:

Luckily I had recently purchased the Love and Laughter stamp set so what a fantastic opportunity to use it.  I didn't want to just stamp the image I wanted to emboss it.  At the present time Stampin' Up! don't do a Bravo Burgundy embossing powder to instead I inked up the dress stamp with Versmark ink and then again with Bravo Burgundy ink.  Once the image was stamped onto the now much loved Cream Confetti card I covered it in a layer of Clear Embossing Powder then set it with my heat gun.

Then I stamped the sentiment "Thank You" from the set Curly Cute in the same way as the main image.  To keep in with the theme of the invitation I punched a little love heart just below the sentiment in the middle.  This was then mounted onto Bravo Burgundy card and, yes you've guessed it, onto more Cream Confetti card.  Now it just needed a little something else and I knew just what that was, Pearls.  It may not be that clear on the picture but I put lots of tiny self adhesive Pearls on the dress and around the love heart and here is the end result....

I didn't want to just put any ordinary typed verse into the card so I searched and finally found the same font as the invitation.  I also carried on the love heart theme using the Heart to Heart punch

When Dean took the card in to his friend not only did he say that if  he had known I did my own cards he would have asked me to do the invitations!!!!, but he noticed an error which I was not happy about.  I told Dean to ask for it back to amend the mistake.  His friend was reluctant to give it back but finally gave it back.   Now, by the time I got the card back I had had to format my laptop and could I find the same font, could I eck.  In the end I took it to work where I found the correct font and had to e-mail the verse to myself at home to print off.

If I'm honest another reason I needed the card back was because I had forgotten to take a picture of it to blog...lol. I'm so pleased that they liked the card as its always good to received positive feedback don't you think?  All I need to do now is come up with a card for the big day.

Thank you for stopping by and please leave a comment if you want to as I love to read them.  I'll be back soon with some more creations.
